Z-System works in an extremely dynamic way. With a heating rate of 60 K/s (at the cavity surface), the injection molding tool is quickly heated up at the right point and above all, cooled down very quickly. Remove from the mold in the shortest possible time and manufacture top quality plastic designed surfaces in short cycles.

Save energy, decrease costs. Due to the dynamic tempering of the mold, the Z-System works in a highly energy efficient way in connection with a thermal insulation in the mold. In practice, low heating capacities of around 100 W are sufficient. As such the Z-System stands for efficiency and sustainability in the field of plastic injection molding.

With its Z-System, hotset provides tool manufacturers with an important further development on the previous variotherm tool temperature control in injection molding as a future-orientated, high-speed temperature control system. With a heating rate of 60 Kelvin per second and minimal energy consumption, cavities can thus be heated and cooled in a targeted, accurate manner in very short cycles.

The results will impress any injection molder: high-quality molded parts with excellent surfaces and no weld lines or dullness, as are desired or demanded for example in automotive construction, lighting technology or the consumer industry.

In addition, particularly thin walls can thus be realized, meaning that new perspectives are opened up for the manufacture of microstructures and miniature components!

Range of services

The basic concept of the new Z-system is envisaged so that it will always be designed by hotset engineers as an individually-configured complete solution with control technology, adapted to a definite application. It comprises various hardware and software components and is provided ready for use for integration into the tool – similar to the hot runner system.

A new thermal sensor with extremely short response time gives the hotset Z-System even higher process accuracy for partial and cyclic cavity temperature control.

Thanks to its fast response, the new cavity sensor detects even the smallest temperature changes and deviations virtually in real-time. In a fraction of a second, the measured values are then forwarded to the Z-System controller and graphically processed.

The System Center for Industrial Temperature Control Technology opens in Lüdenscheid, Germany.

Following months of preparation, the System Center for Industrial Temperature Control (SIT) is now opening for business. The new foundation is an institution created by the thermodynamics specialist hotset and it gives experts from plastics technology and toolmaking the opportunity to obtain detailed first-hand information on the full capabilities of the Z-System. Experts consider the high-speed process for partial-cyclic cavity temperature control to be one of the most significant innovations in the field of variothermal mold temperature control. What’s more, this new process is being presented in the new System Center on an ENGEL injection molding machine. The Austrian mechanical engineering firm and system expert supports hotset’s temperature control process with innovative injection molding technology.
